Three things You Should know About Tiki Torches

The summer is here and it's time to make the backyard entertaining by pulling out the barbecue, beach balls and torches. But like anything else involving fire, a little planning and some precautions during use can go a long way toward ensuring safety and sensibility:

How far apart to place the torches?

Equally space your gas tiki torches throughout the backyard or patio.  Ideally, it will be great if you can place these torches 6 to 8 feet apart to get the best perimeter lighting and ambiance. It is better not to place torches under trees, overhangs or place any other flammable materials.  Decorating experts also advice to place your torches 6 to 8 inches into the ground or use a torch stake or stand for extra stability.

What is the best way to fill the torch?

To avoid any unforeseen mishap, pour the torch fuel directly into the torch from the bottle.  It is wrong to transfer the fuel into a secondary vessel or container. For easier filling, you can use a spout or a funnel to get it done smoothly.  Do not forget to promptly recap the fuel bottle and store out of the reach of children and pets.

How to extinguish a torch?

A snuffer cap is generally provided for the purpose of carefully extinguishing a tiki torch. All you need to do is carefully place the snuffer cap entirely over the wick and leave in place until the flame is completely covered and suffocated. When the flame is extinguished, carefully remove the snuffer cap and allow the wick to completely cool. Replace the snuffer cap to guard the wick from the elements once the wick is cool.
